Aromatherapy
For centuries, mankind has lived and worked closely with nature, and developed a comprehensive knowledge of how plants can be beneficial to health and to healing. The old apothecaries and herbalists knew which plants to use for which ailments.
Some of this experience has been lost in recent years with the wider use of artificial drugs and treatments. However, with the move back to more natural remedies, there is again recognition of the healing powers contained in the plants.
What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a relaxing massage accompanied by the application of essential oils (natural plant extracts) on the skin. The combination of the massage and the pleasant aroma of the oils helps ease stress, whilst the oils themselves are recognised to have healing properties that can help conditions from insomnia and aching muscles to respiratory problems and headaches.
The massage also helps stimulate blood flow and helps to cleanse the body of toxins. By working on specific areas, it can also help to heal old scars and muscle tears which have healed incorrectly. And there is nothing like having work done on the shoulders and back to relieve the tension and stress that builds up and is held there.
What are the benefits of Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy can help to:
- Ease stress
- Promote relaxation
- Stimulate the body sytems
- Free energy flows in the body
- Improve sleep patterns
- Heal certain conditions through the application of specific oils
How long is a session?
A treatment will normally last about 70 minutes, though there will be a consultation beforehand of about 15-20 minutes which will be necessary prior to initial session to ensure there are no conditions which may prevent treatment, and will also help in gauging the progress of the course of treatments.
